Humble Rants 26 October 2011

by Robert Skoglund aka The humble Farmer

Can it be possible that for the past 10 years we’ve been spending 10 billion every month fighting a no-win war in Afghanistan?  Is it possible that Maine’s share of the cost of wars since 2001 is 3.4 billion or what it costs to run the state of Maine for one year? Could that 3.4 billion have been better used in Maine for education, road repair and the relentless arrest and incarceration of marijuana smokers? Is it true that the gap between rich and poor Americans is growing each day?

All these things might have come to your mind if you heard Obama whining that he is now the underdog because of the faltering economy.

Would you laugh or simply groan and throw your hands in the air if you heard him tell this outright lie?

Don’t you think that Obama knows very well that he is the underdog for the plain and simple reason that he has continued to ignore or at least countenance the Republican war machine?

Are people who don't care for war going to vote for a Republican who admits that he is a Republican or a Republican who calls himself a Democrat? If you don't think it is nice to kill people for money, will you stay home on election day because you really don't have a candidate?

Have you ever asked yourself why we keep hearing about the economy, the economy and the economy --- and nothing about the cost of the war, the cost of the war, and the cost of the war that continues to bleed the country dry?

The humble Farmer can be heard Saturdays at 5 on WERU Blue Hill, Sundays at 7 on WRFR in Rockland and Tuesdays at 2 on WMPG Portland.
